February 5, 2026 - Regular School Board Meeting
Title
C12 - Addition of a component to the Professional Learning Catalog to provide additional educational leadership professional learning opportunities.
Description

The Florida legislature recognizes the importance of planning for developing human potential and requires each district to develop a comprehensive Professional Learning Catalog, which outlines the professional learning opportunities available to CCDS teachers.  Each district is required to update, revise, and submit a Professional Learning Catalog to provide a detailed description of each professional learning component. Each unique type of professional learning experience requires a corresponding component. Changes to the professional learning catalog are required to be approved by the board.

Gap Analysis

With the recent change in legislation, requiring Educational Leadership in-service points for renewal for educators with Educational leadership on their certificate as an area of certification, sessions that meet these requirements are being developed to provide a variety of options.  Although there are currently many sessions offered to earn these points, another option would provide an additional opportunity for educators certified in educational leadership to earn the required leadership points.  A component for The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth for School Leaders will be added to the Professional Learning Catalog to allow CCDS leaders to be awarded educational leadership points for engaging in this professional learning component.

Previous Outcomes

The 2025-2026 CCDS Professional Learning Catalog was approved in May 2025.

Expected Outcomes

The CCDS Professional Learning Catalog will include a new component for The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth for School Leaders and will allow educators to earn educational leadership in-service points for this professional learning opportunity.

Strategic Plan Goal

Goal:   Goal 2: Talent, Recruitment, Development, and Retention

Strategy: 2.3  Retain employees through opportunities for growth and career development leading to high satisfaction and increased student outcomes.

Recommendation

That the Clay County School Board approve the additions to the CCDS Professional Learning Catalog.
