Title C14 - Approve the School District Administration request to pursue debt collection against past employee Lori Featheringill, to recoup salary overpayment in excess of $59,000.00.
Description The School District overpaid the above-referenced employee in an amount exceeding $59,000.00 beginning in 2013 and ending in 2020. After the overpayment was discovered efforts were made to reach a repayment agreement. This was unsuccessful and the employee resigned from her employment with the district. Continued communications and efforts to reach a repayment plan have been fruitless. The employee refuses to consider repayment. The Administration is seeking Board consent to retain a debt litigation law firm to pursue litigation to establish the debt and to follow up with collections efforts. Because the School Board is the entity which is granted the general power to contract and pursue legal action pursuant to section 1001.41(4) the Administration is seeking consent of the Board to pursue all avenues available, including filing a lawsuit against the ex-employee to establish this debt and then to pursue collection of the debt.
