C27 - New Elementary School “R” Naming Committee Member Selection
Description

Per CCDS Board Policy (6.01 (L)(3) New Schools): “The committee membership shall consist of a minimum of two (2) lay people who live in the area in which the site is located and who are designated by consensus of the School Board, two (2) staff members as designated by the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent for Operations".

Gap Analysis

Currently there is only designation “R” for the new elementary school.  A proper name for the new school is desired using the following criteria as guidance, “…the use of historical figures, the history, general location or features of the area, or goals for the school.”  Names should be presented to the Superintendent by December 2021.

Previous Outcomes

The School Board approved the naming committee by consensus for School “Y” in August of 2017.

Expected Outcomes

The nominated individual forming the committee will meet from time to time and select five (5) names.  The five (5) will be submitted to the Superintendent, who shall in turn present at least three (3) to the School Board for final selection.

Recommendation

Designate by consensus, membership of the New Elementary School “R” Naming Committee.
