The School Board of Clay County, Florida operates career and technical programs at several of its high schools with one of its most notable programs being the partnership with Vystar in which hands-on technical training is provided in a working career environment, thereby providing students with the hands-on skills needed to enter the workforce post-graduation essentially “pre-trained” and job-ready. Similarly, The School District, in collaboration with Garber Ford, Inc., seeks to establish a learning laboratory to provide both classroom and hands-on training in the automobile service, maintenance and repair industry in a “working repair and maintenance facility,” providing quality service under strict supervision by skilled technician educators. The contract between Garber and the School Board lays the essential groundwork for this joint endeavor and is the basis upon which the parties can establish methods and procedures for the operation of the program which is envisioned to open as “The Garber Academy of Automotive Services at Middleburg High School” in August 2022 for the 22-23 school year

Approval of this contract will facilitate the establishment of an Automotive Maintenance and Repair Career Academy, sponsored by Garber and initially housed at Middleburg High School, thereby opening a pathway for District students to obtain vocational preparatory instruction, both hands-on and in the classroom, which will lead to national training/skill certifications and employability in a high paid dynamic technical field.
