Minutes: Dr. Legutko used a visual presentation to review the final budget, all funds, totaling $393,437,564. She reviewed the final proposed millage levies for 2017-2018 and the amount of money each mill levy will generate for Clay County. The school district is levying the total amount allowed by the state in order to participate in the Florida Education Finance Program.

2. Public Hearing for Comments on the 2017-2018 Budget and Millages

Minutes: The public hearing was opened by the Chairman. After no one came forward to speak, the public hearing was closed.

3. Adopt the 2017-2018 Required Local Effort Mill Levy
|

That the Clay County School Board adopt the 2017-2018 final proposed required local effort mill levy of 4.190 with the amount to be raised of $46,715,185. The RLE millage includes basic RLE of 4.185 and a prior period adjustment millage of .005.

Minutes: Superintendent Davis thanked the Board for their support of the allocations package. With the additional teacher allocations approved, Mr. Davis reported the following class size averages:
- Elementary: 16.22
- Junior High: 18.91
- High School: 20.36

School Board Comments

13. Comments
|
Minutes: Board members comments were heard. Common remarks included thoughts and prayers to the families who lost homes during Hurricane Irma, as well as praise of our employees who worked tirelessly to man hurricane shelters. Superintendent Davis is waiting for confirmation from DOE whether Clay will need to make up any school days.
Chairman Kerekes stated an item would be added to the September 26, 2017, Regular board meeting agenda to allow Mrs. Condon to participate in the meeting through electronic communications. Mrs. Condon will be in Washington DC attending the National School Boards Association meeting.
