1. Recognize St. Vincent's Medical Center
Minutes:

St. Vincent's Medical Center was recognized for their contributions to the school district that promote student learning in Clay County.  Mr. Rene' Grosdidier was present from St. Vincent's and talked briefly about their work and appreciation to the school district for the opportunities afforded to them to be involved.

2. Recognize Markel Laster - student from KHH
Minutes:

Pat York VSA's Florida Regional Coordinator for our district, along with Melanie Rodriguez, ESE teacher at Keystone Heights HIgh School, introduced the student who won the state VSA Award.  VSA is an international organization that provides arts and educational opportunities for students with disabilities.

Minutes:

Mrs. Kerekes began by announcing that she would abstain from voting on this item due to a conflict of interest.  Concern was expressed by some Board Members about the appearance of impropriety with one of the Superintendent's personnel recommendations.  However, it was agreed there was no conflict with the employment of the individual in question.  Following Board discussion and acknowledgement of their respective statutory roles, consensus of the Board was to trust the Superintendent and his ability to build a loyal team to assist him in leading the district.

School Board Remarks
25. Comments
Minutes:

Mrs. Kerekes took the opportunity to read Proclamation #17-09 for National School Counseling Week, which is February 6-10, 2017.  The Proclamation was approved earlier in the meeting as part of the Consent agenda.

Board Members made general comments about a variety of things, including upcoming district events and farewell wishes to Deputy Superintendent Diane Kornegay who will be leaving the county to accept a position as Superintendent of Schools in Lake County, Florida.
