RESOLUTION RE RENUMBERING DISTRICTS.pdf
Executed Resolution Renumbering Districts.pdf
Minutes:

Chair Bolla introduced the agenda item and read the entirety of the Resolution, as required to show the resolution spread upon the minutes of the district school board in accordance with F.S. 1001.36 (3).

Chair Bolla opened the public hearing.  With no one coming forward to speak to the item, the public hearing was closed.

Mrs. Kerekes requested the rationale for this Resolution, placed on the agenda by Mrs. Bolla.  Mrs. Bolla advised she brought this item forward to bring the School Board's district numbers in alignment with those of the County Commissioners, who are unable to change their numbers.  Mrs. Bolla spoke with the County Commissioners and Supervisor of Elections and concluded that the different numbers are confusing to the public.  Mrs. Kerekes does not find the current numbering confusing to voters and expressed concern over the associated expense of this change.  Mrs. Bullock stated that these are separate government entities, the School Board does not have to align with the numbers of single-member districts of the County Commissioners, and she believes the proposed change is unnecessary.  Mrs. Gilhousen advised that a lack of coordination among agencies does not serve the public well and she has received this complaint many times.  Mrs. Clark feels this is a great opportunity to alleviate confusion and that people with whom she has interacted have responded favorably to this proposed change.
