  • Item C2 Clay County Agricultural Fair which is April 4-13, 2019.
  • Item C6 Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10, 2019, and Teacher Appreciation Day will be observed on May 7.
  • Item C7 Administrative Professionals Week is April 22-26, 2019, and Administrative Professionals Day will be observed on April 24.

Superintendent Davis' presentation included results from the Insight Culture Survey, his plans to launch Community Listen and Learns beginning March 25th around the county at the seven high schools, and the introduction of the Champions of Change to schools listed below for having an outstanding Instructional Culture Index.

Minutes:

Mrs. Gilhousen pulled the Personnel Consent Agenda due to her concerns about moving forward with the Police Force.  She proposed approval of the Personnel Consent Agenda with the removal of the job descriptions for the new positions included for the Police Force.   Mrs. Kerekes pointed out that the Board had already approved an option to move ahead with the Police Force at its February meeting.  Board discussion ensued, followed by a vote.

Minutes:

Mrs. Gilhousen expressed her concerns about potential funding for the Police Force until the millage revenues begin to come in.  She also asked how this would affect the district's fund balance.  Superintendent Davis responded that he would put together the projected costs and what funds could be used pending the millage revenues which are expected to begin in December 2019.

Prior to the vote, Chair Studdard noted the following changes to the proposed allocations for 2019-2020 which were scrivener errors and had no impact on the actual positions proposed: 

  • Page 42, Wilkinson Elementary School typographical error in Section 6100-Student Services; Current total is 4.5, the corrected total should be 5.0.
  • Page 70, Ridgeview High School typographical error in Section 6200-Media; Current total is 1.0, the corrected total should be 2.0.

Minutes:

Board Members made comments about the various events they attended over the last month.  Mrs. Gilhousen asked that staff look at making the district's budget more visible on the district website and that once the millage revenues start to come in that a monthly update is included for transparency purposes showing how the money is being spent.
