The superintendent also expressed appreciation to Garber Automall for their partnership in the establishment of a new automotive maintenance and repair career academy and to The Bailey Group for their support and commitment in assisting Clay County District Schools with transitioning to a self-insured model plan for employee benefits.

Board members expressed enthusiastic support for the achievement of this milestone and the opportunity to utilize savings in a way that will enrich the plan and make it even better for employees.  Former CCEA President, Renna Lee Paiva was acknowledged as she was instrumental in promoting this option for many years.

Minutes:

Bruce Bickner, School Board Attorney, proposed a special meeting to take place on May 24, 2022, immediately preceding the School Board workshop, to obtain board approval on items that were finalized too late to be placed on this evening's agenda.  The board was amenable to holding the proposed meeting.

Minutes:

Mrs. Gilhousen expressed gratitude to the teachers who have dedicated countless hours and resources to their students and families.

Mrs. Bullock began her career at Orange Park Elementary and was pleased to celebrate that school this evening.  She also acknowledged the phenomenal success of the Keystone Heights High weightlifting team and the state champions recognized this evening and appreciated the recently held events of Battle of the Books and Math Field Day.  The many contributions of teachers were also appreciated.

Mrs. Kerekes thanked the teachers and media specialists who made the return of Battle of the Books a reality.  She also appreciated the recently held Career Day and business partners, the Golden Hammer awards, the new Garber Academy, The Bailey Group's work on the district's transition to a self-insured model of benefits, and the teachers who are the district's backbone.

Mrs. Clark expressed excitement for the upcoming graduations and the very special aspects of Clay County that attracts involved parents and excellent teachers.

Mrs. Bolla participated in the quarterly forum held by Clay Virtual Academy and appreciated the creativity and good ideas shared by teachers.  Media Awards Night was enjoyed as were the Reinhold Awards.  Susie Daniels was acknowledged, celebrating her 40th year of teaching and having worked with many interns over the years, including Mrs. Bolla.
