Superintendent Broskie concluded his presentation by reflecting on the meeting as productive and expressing optimism about the district’s current direction. He also noted ongoing concerns regarding the financial outlook and state funding, referencing the impact of inflation and funding losses. He emphasized the importance of continued advocacy in support of public education.

Mrs. Skipper encouraged community members to attend the fair referenced in the presentation, noting upcoming special events. She also highlighted the CCDS table promoting employment opportunities and kindergarten registration, and encouraged attendees to visit.

Mr. Alvero expressed appreciation to the community member who shared her story during public comment and spoke positively about her student and the educational support being provided.

Mrs. Clark discussed the one mill referendum and encouraged community support, emphasizing that it is a continuation rather than a new initiative. She thanked Senator Bradley for her advocacy in allowing counties to determine their own school start times, noting that the community ultimately voted to keep current times in place. She also addressed topics related to digital safety, highlighting both its importance and positive impact, and shared updates on recent and upcoming events across Clay County, including graduations. She concluded by thanking Steve Mills for his work and for recognizing a school guardian each month.

Mrs. Hanson thanked Ms. Kidwell for her work with CCEA and her advocacy efforts, and encouraged others to continue supporting and advocating for public schools.

Mrs. Gilhousen reflected on a successful sports season and offered encouraging remarks regarding testing and participation in upcoming events.

Mrs. Skipper thanked attendees for maintaining a positive outlook and highlighted the success and importance of the recent Digital Safety Night in supporting student safety. She also requested clarification from Mr. Broskie regarding the cost of the K-9 program, and he confirmed that there is no additional cost to the district as it operates through a partnership with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. The program was noted as successful. Mrs. Skipper concluded by expressing excitement about the addition of students to next month’s agenda to share their perspectives.
