2. Florida Healthy School District Award - Dr. Karla Shelnutt, Associate Professor and Extension Nutrition Specialist at University of Florida

Dr. Shelnutt presented the school district with the Silver Level flag as a Florida Healthy School District for establishing a culture and climate within the school district in which students and staff can be healthy and productive.

Superintendent Davis used a pictorial slide presentation to show the widespread devastation in our county as a result of Hurricane Irma and how the district and community pulled together to help each other through this tragedy.  See the attached list for those who received the Superintendent's Champions of Change certificates.

School Board Member Remarks

Superintendent Davis voiced his support of the litigation against HB 7069. 

Board members expressed their sorrow at the destruction of Hurricane Irma throughout our county and made positive comments about how the community and district pulled together to help those in need.  In particular, they thanked all of the employees who worked at school shelters for their assistance to our families who had to evacuate their homes.
